Disneyland 2012

We had a great time on our vacation to Southern California.
We had the special treat of having Jim's sister Liz come with us also.
She handled the chaos of our family quite well... probably even better than the parents :)
Here are a few of the many pictures we took (in no particular order).

Lizzie and pure happiness at the beach.

Lilly trying out for the next Star Wars movie.
Actually she managed to fall in the water and get her clothes
all wet within 5 minutes of being at the beach.
She did not like her wet clothes and so this is the solution we came up with.

Ethan playing chase with the waves.
Such a nice dad keeping Afton warm with his
jacket on the whale watching tour.

Gorgeous view from our whale watching tour.

If I look a little pale..... me and whale watching tours are not very good friends.
Back to dry land....... Winnie the Pooh ride with Afton

Afton and Lilly were so excited to meet Ariel.
Lilly had even brought specific shoes to change into if she met a princess.

Disney wishes coming true..... a hug from your favorite princess!

Happiness at Disneyland!

Tinkerbell Faires!!!
Also very popular at our house right now.

Liz squared.
Aunt Liz was Lizzie's riding partner for most of the rides.
Jack Skellington!!!!

Our Family right after the Tower of Terror ride.
Afton and Lilly did really well with the "bigger" rides.
The only one they refused to go on
(but were tall enough for) was Splash Mountain.

Halloween 2012

Halloween 2012 Festivities

Introducing....
Strawberry Shortcake, Indiana Jones, Black Cat and Witch

Lizzie was so excited to be a cat this year.
 I think she looks awesome!

Lilly as a witch
The boy who has been Indiana Jones
 every year since Kindergarten
Afton as Strawberry Shortcake
Afton and Lilly trick or treating
with one of their favorite friends Lillia.

This was hilarious- the kids were doing some
serious candy trading after out trunk or treat.
It reminded me of trading on the New York Stock Exchange
 (or a game of Pit).
Lizzie was very happy to see her
favorite candy bar in her pumpkin

October

Here are a few things we did in October....

1.  Purposely made  a hole in our stairway wall to get a couch to "fit" downstairs :)

Who knew you could get so excited destroying your own house :)

See.... Doesn't that look better than the empty room we had :).
Now I just need to work on wall decorations and window coverings.

2.  Hung out up in Park City with some friends.  Our friends the Duncans had a extra time share they needed someone to use.  It would have been rude of us to say no :)  Not only did we get to hang out with great company, but we also....  ate yummy food, walked Main Street, watched cable, went to a Scarecrow Walk, a park and of course swimming.

The Duncan and Harrison kids

Rub a Dub Dub, two Dads in a tub.

The most amazing tree for climbing.
Lizzie was in heaven and kept saying how cool the tree was.

3.  Nate and Liz came to visit.... I think the picture explains perfectly how excited my kids get. :)

4.  Carved Pumpkins-
My parents came up to help carve pumpkins.  It is noisy and chaotic and something the kids SO look forward to every year.
Getting the "guts" out.

My dad and Afton

Afton with kitty bat

The line-up -
 Jim's, Lizzie's, Ethan's, Lilly's and Afton's.

The pumpkins seem pretty happy about their new look.

5.  Took the kids to their first corn maze. For some reason our kids have never been.  Actually there is a reason- Since the girls were born, the idea of taking all four to a corn maze sounded too chaotic and nerve wracking for Jim and I.  Luckily our girls are getting easier to take  more and more places the older they get.
Ethan and Afton brave enough to be our leaders

Afton was very curious about the corn.

The kids conferring about where to go next.

Girl Power

Every Tuesday from 1:30 to 3:30 these six girls get together and hang out for a children's book playgroup.  We rotate houses and whose parent is in charge. When it is your turn you  read a book to the girls,  have a couple activities based on the book,  have a snack and then let them play.

These six girls all live within a block of each other and will start kindergarten next fall. The two girls in the pink and blue shirt in the middle are also twins and live about four houses up from us.

At our most recent turn at our house, we read Harold and the Purple Crayon.  After story, they drew their own purple adventure (like Harold) with only purple crayons, markers and colored pencils.  Then  they learned about mixing red and blue water together to make purple.  Then of course we had purple grapes and purple Kool-Aid.

Such a cute group of girls!
