Turning 5 x 2

Lots of festivities involved with these two cute girls turning 5.       Here we go.....

Presenting the new 5 year olds- They got the birthday crowns from pre-school.  They thought they were the coolest things.

Pancakes and Pajamas Friend Party- Ever since last year when one of their friends had a Pancakes and Pajamas party, the girls have wanted one too.  We invited way more girls than I had originally planned.  I was thinking it would be tremendous chaos.  Instead, only slight chaos :)

The invitation

Raise your hand if you want more pancakes :)

Gathered around the table enjoying  pancakes in their pajamas

All the cute girls getting ready for opening presents.

Party favors the girls got to take home-
bowl, spoon, cereal, milk and a note
 saying thanks for coming

Family Party- We got to celebrate March birthdays for Bella, Afton and Lilly.   Nice afternoon with some adorable girls.

March Birthday girls

I really like this picture.
Lilly has been so excited to celebrate her birthday.
 She just looks so happy.
Bikes!!!- Jim and I surprised the girls with bikes for their actual birthday.  We had bought them as a Black Friday deal last November.  They were so surprised and excited.  Now they basically want to ride them all the time.  Living next to a circle for biking practice has been quite nice.

All smiles for Afton

My life 5 years ago....

One of my very favorite pictures!!!!

Somehow I blinked and these little girls are now 5.
5 years seems like a big milestone.
The fact that Jim and I have survived 5 years trying to raise twins is also a big milestone :)
We are a little bit crazier and have probably aged twice the normal rate
(who knows what the teenage years will do to us)
but we are still here laughing, smiling and trying our best to take care of them.

I know I say this every year but these two girls are truly here because of the tender mercies of a Heavenly Father and the goodness of others.
I am forever grateful to those that made an impact in our lives during that time.

Happy Birthday Afton and Lilly!!
We love you so much.

Spring!

Yeah!! The weather has been so nice lately.
  •  The girls and I have been having picnics in our backyard for lunch.
  • They have been playing in the sandbox
  • We have visited a couple nearby playgrounds.
  • Bikes and scooters have been used in abundance.
  • I can see flowers trying to poke out of our flower beds!!!
I know it is supposed to get cold again in just a few days but we are relishing this good weather.

 In other news....
Lilly has now joined the glasses club in our house.
She is officially farsighted.

Random....

Here are a few random things we have been doing the past couple weeks while we wait for spring so we can get outside more.....

We go to the library once a week.
The girls love these little nooks to read their books in.

Lots of reading goes on at home too.
Ethan has even been known to try to set the table while reading a book!

This is how the girls do Play-Doh.
They make dresses for their Polly Pockets :)

Afton testing out her musical abilities at Thanskgiving Point

Legos-
Even after my kids move out I am sure I will still be able to remember the sound
of them rummaging through the big bin of legos looking for "that perfect piece."

My view every Tuesday night for the next 6 weeks
as I watch  Lizzie in ice skating lessons.

Speaking of Ice Skating....  We went as a family last Tuesday night after Lizzie's lessons.  It was such a fun night.  The girls did awesome but I was most impressed with how helpful Ethan and Lizzie were with the girls.

Sometimes they are just adorable!!!
Ethan helping Lilly

Lilly would keep saying.... "I'm skating!!!!!"
or "I'm going to fall on my butt!"  over and over again.

*Bonus points to those that notice that yes, Afton and Lilly are still wearing dresses every day.  We are going on 3 months plus of this.  I made them put pants on under their dress for ice skating though :)
