Antelope Island

For the first day of 2016 we decided to do something we did on January 1st a couple years ago.... we headed out to Antelope Island.  It was absolutely gorgeous out there and we had a fun day laughing and spending time as a family.

We bought sleds on our way there.
Afton and Lilly thought they were the coolest things
and didn't seem to mind there weren't really any big hills.

Our first selfie picture of 2016 :)

Seriously, the girls kept themselves entertained for over an hour with their sleds.
Never complaining about the bitter cold and laughing and having fun the whole time.

Jim brought his metal detector that he got for Christmas.
I think they found a beer bottle cap and 3 nails.  Success!

Lucky was absolutely loving it too!!!
He had so much fun running through the snow and exploring.

So pretty!
On the way home we found a little bit steeper road we got out and slid on.  So fun!!!

So on our way home from our pretty awesome day, our car decided to die.  It would hardly go at all and then sometimes it would just die.  We said a little prayer and were at least able to get off antelope island.  Tender mercies of our Heavenly Father.  Our amazing friend Mark Roberts came up to get us and take us home while we had our car towed.  We put Lucky in a 3T coat to keep him warm while we waited for Mark

Our car getting towed away :(  It ended up being a pretty easy fix (gas pedal sensor went out) which we were very grateful for and had our car back in our driveway in less than 24 hours.

New sleds and gloves $57 + Full tank of gas $50 + Towing Charge $91 + Dinner at Iceberg $24 + New Gas Pedal Sensor $268 + Fun day with the family and good memories made
= PRICELESS

Our year started off with  fun family time,  unexpected adventures, tender mercies and good friends saving the day.

Not a bad way to start off 2016 :)
